40 Inches in One Week to Kick Spring Skiing Into Gear

Monday, March 14th, 2011

Hi Everyone,

Well the past week has been one that has pushed the snow plow drivers to the brink, giving us 40 inches of new snow in one week.  While many of us are starting to think about Spring and Summer, there’s still some good skiing left at Stowe.

The crowds are down and the deals are out, along with the sun and fun of spring skiing.  If you’re looking to get a few more turns in this year, Stowe is the place to be.  The soft corn snow along with sunglasses and lighter layers make for memorable final days on the mountain.

Take advantage of the end of the year lift ticket deals being offered by the Mountain:

 St. Patrick’s Day

Ski and Ride Stowe on Thursday March 17, 2011  for ONLY $39 to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day! Purchase a $39 one-day lift ticket at Stowe Mountain Resort and enjoy the great conditions. Cannot be combined with any other offer or promotion.

Stowe VT Foliage Art Festival this Weekend!

Saturday, October 9th, 2010

It is that time of year again! Columbus Day weekend brings the Stowe Foliage Art Festival or more commonly referred to as the Craft Fair to the fields at Topnotch for the 28th year.

This is one event I look forward to each year. The artists and crafters at this event are first rate. My favorite vendors are usually found right as you walk in. One is Clinton Pottery, they makes very utilitarian plates, bowls, pitchers and more. They are perfect for everyday or as special occasion settings. Mix and match different glazes or go monotone, he’s a must hit when visiting the craft fair.

Another to check out is Richard Foye who makes these incredible raku glazed lamps. I love to buy them and add these lampshades with beautiful leafs on them. The vendor for the lampshades is hit or miss, sometimes she’s at the show and sometimes no luck.

Also check out Katherine Washburn’s booth while you are there. To learn more about Katherine check out my earlier blog post by clicking here. If you have a wee one you need to buy for, swing by RobinHoods and check out her felted hats. They are adorable and make a great gift for toddlers.

There are so many great vendors from clothing and jewelery to food. It’s a great way to take in the foliage and spend a beautiful fall day, which we are having right now! For more details and directions click here for the festival website.

Washburn Ceremics, Stowe VT

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

If you are looking for a great gift idea and want to support our local community, I have the best suggestion! Katherine Washburn, owner of Washburn Ceremics makes the most wonderful hand painted ceremics. Her stuff is the most fun! She will do custom images too, you just have to send her a picture of your favorite pet. I had her do a clock and lamp of my daughter’s dog, Gizmo, a few years ago. He is still one of her best sellers!

So if you have a animal lover on your Christmas list this year, check out Katherine’s site! WashburneCeremics.com, Hand painted ceremics from Vermont!
